Celebrating the life of

William (Bill) A. Miltiades, Jr.

Passed away on August 31, 2023

William (Bill) A. Miltiades, Jr.

William (Bill) A. Miltiades, Jr., son of the late William A. Miltiades Sr. and Lynn Kelly Corbly Miltiades, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, after climbing and summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.

Bill was born in Savannah Georgia.  Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his lovingly devoted sister Marta Miltiades; brother-in-law Sean Clayton; and his favorite person in the world, his niece, Starlyn Street.

Bill was loved by so many extended family and friends and remained friends with everyone that crossed his path.  Bill was truly larger than life and someone you could never forget after he touched any part of your life. He will always be remembered by his generosity, his kindness and that big heart that cared about everyone.  He always had a huge smile and was ready to make you part of his larger than life circle.  He loved the beach and walked Tybee several times a week, every week and then added many other beaches all over the world to his adventures.  He loved downtown Savannah and walked it every day.  He loved camping and hiking mountains and trails, which we have done our entire lives. He loved traveling and adventures all over the world and he loved to enjoy that with his family and friends often.  He was also one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable people that you could ever meet.  He would be able to explain everything, show how things happened everywhere and how it became that way.  He was very proud in the political arena too.  He loved talking about politics and understood every aspect of how things work in the political world and what needed to be done.  He will be missed by everyone that he ever connected with and all of his stories will live on through his family, friends and people who he met along the way.  Bill was very proud of his family, his country, his church, his friends and of his community.

Bill attended St. James Catholic School and Benedictine Military School.  He received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia.  Upon graduation, Bill went to work for Millikin and ran many of their companies for over five years.     Millikin sent him to the Institute of Textile Technology in Charlottesville Virginia where he completed all the requirements for his master’s degree.  After his time with Millikin, Bill returned to Savannah Georgia where he began buying and flipping houses as he became a realtor.  Bill worked as a realtor with Prudential Southeast Coastal Properties and then as an associate broker with ReMax Savannah.  Bill started BILL MILITIADES MANAGEMENT, LLC in 2011 and then became a broker of his own company BILL MILTIADES REALTY in 2018.  Bill was very successful in the real estate world and would travel to other areas to help fight for realtors and landlord/tenants within the legal system.  Many times, Bill would visit the State Capital and the National Capital fighting for their rights.   This past year was Bill’s 24th year as a member of the Distinguished Sales Society.   He was the Young Council of Realtors Chairman for 2015 and 2016 (member since 1995).  He served on the SAR Board of Directors and was a past chair of RPAC where he was a major investor.  Bill participated in all the activities and events with YCR and always gave auction items and worked to support many charities in these events (Divine Rest, Family Promise, Safe Shelter and Savannah Hospice to name a few).  He loved everything from The Savannah Sand Gnats, the Savannah Bananas Games (even throwing out the first pitch) and the Chili cook off’s (where he proudly placed in the winnings).  With SAR’s he supports the annual Bowl-a-thon and Adopt A Family Realtor Care Workdays (supporting seniors and disabled yard clean up and minor home repairs).  Bill was always the one to arrive first and the last to leave, helping with all the setup and breakdown.

Bill was a dedicated and knowledgeable Realtor and a valuable member of SAR/SMLC.  For many years Bill has given countless hours towards the success of the Savannah Area Realtors Association, most recently serving as a member of the Finance/Budget, YCR and Realtor Party Committees, and the SAR Disaster Relief Fund as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Bill also received many awards and served on many boards that were not only from his real estate adventures, but in his personal life.  This includes the HOA at River Homes West.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Bill’s memory for the William A. Miltiades, Jr. Scholarship at Benedictine Military School.  Contact Tim Nelson, 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.  (912) 644-7016

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, 222 East Harris Street in Savannah  on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.  A celebration of Bill's life will follow at Benedictine Military School 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah Georgia 31406

A candle has been lit!

My earliest memories of Billy were when we were kids and I can honestly say that I never saw him angry or sad other than in losing his Dad and, many years later, his Mom. Billy was always about having a good time and making sure others did as well. His passing certainly came as a shock and our hearts go out to Marta and the rest of the family. I imagine Billy sitting there with Bill and Lynn and telling stories about his experiences on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. When my time comes, I can only hope to have such great stories to tell as Billy, and such great family to share them with. Love you all

- Todd Johnson, Gainesville, FL

Marta, Sean, Starlyn, my heart goes out to each of you and the entire Miltiades family. Billy was more than a childhood friend, he was our brother. I loved every moment spent talking with him. He was an intelligent man of faith and conviction. I am so grateful for our chance meeting after Mass at the Basilica when I was last in town for my SVA Reunion. I caught up with him, exchanged a quick greeting, a hug and parted as we always did with "Love you, Billy" "Love you, Peggy". I weep for our loss of such a wonderful person. He will always and forever be remembered!!

Our prayers are with Bill’s family and all of his friends. We were honored to have worked with Bill when his Realtor career began. Larger than life is an understatement! He never met a stranger. He always would always greet you with a big smile and an even bigger hug. He was quick to explain why you should always invest in real estate :). Charming, smart and funny you will be missed by so many. I love this photo of Bill and Reba Laramy. May you all find peace in the wonderful memories you have of Bill.

Marta, I cannot begin to express the feeling of loss and heartbreak at this. Billy was a good friend and always smiling. I will always cherish the memories of our life growing up together, from st James and the summers on Mayfair swim team, to all the parties and get togethers over the decades. Bob and I considered Bill to be one of our own when he was working with us at Prudential Southeast Coastal Properties. He was young and just getting started in the real estate business but we knew he would accomplish all of his goals because he didn't know how to fail. He still remained one of our best friends and he always made it a point to seek us out at every real estate function just to say hello. He contributed so much to the industry and to the many other organizations he was involved with. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

- Reba Laramy, Savannah, GA

“Everyone smiles in the same language.” Even the smallest encounter with Bill, walking at the beach or in town, always added a bit of joy to your day. Our deepest condolences and continued prayers of comfort to Bill’s family and many dear friends. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. God Bless.

- Sandy Dyess, Savannah, GA

Most of my contact with Bill was through the Young Council of Realtors. Being one of the longest members I can remember him joining the group - Bill really energized YCR. Never a dull moment. He was always there to help with any project and loved to help one of his favorite charities Divine Rest. He always came barreling in to the meetings with that big smile and sorry I’m late. I will be thinking of you Bill at our annual Putt Putt event in October. Just won’t be the same. My condolences to all the family and so glad Bill was a part of my life.

- Vicki Mitchell, Savannah, Ga

My deepest sympathies to the Miltiades family.
